New Members

Come Join Us!

The Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus welcomes all interested tenor, baritone, and bass singers to join us! We hold open rehearsals on the first two Thursdays of September for the fall season and the first two Thursdays of January for the winter/spring season. Open rehearsals are a great way to see if the Chorus is right for you, with no obligation to join.

We are a community choir, so we do not have an admission audition and previous singing experience is not required. We rehearse every Thursday at St. Andrew’s United Church, 6036 Coburg St., Halifax. Rehearsals run from 7pm to 9:30pm. We ask that you arrive by 6:45 to get settled.

If you are interested in joining us, please fill out this form (Click Here) and our Membership Director will be in touch.

Membership Dues

HGMC is a non-profit organization and our activities are funded in large part by membership dues. Our dues for the fall season (Sept. to Dec.) are $140 and dues for the winter/spring season (Jan. to June) are $210. Dues for a season can be paid as a lump sum, or in instalments.

We want everyone to be able to participate in HGMC, regardless of financial means.

HGMC has a bursary program available for members who would like to request a reduced membership fee. Information on that program can be found here (Click Here)

If you have any questions, please email membership@hgmc.ca.

Safer Space Statement

The Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus is dedicated to providing a space that is accessible, inclusive, and free from oppression, harassment, and discrimination. In this space, we will treat each other with respect and dignity, regardless of age, race, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, levels of ability, and all our other diverse identities. Every member of the chorus has a responsibility to uphold these values and to support HGMC’s equity, diversity, inclusion, reconciliation and accessibility initiatives.
